Intermot 2008: Piaggio MP3 MY 2009

These vehicles always look to me like they belong in a Matrix film, but it appears that they’re actually very nifty for city and touring use. In 2009 Piaggio MP3 will be presented with some updated technology that will improve the Piaggio offering in the GT segment.

The MP3 125cc version includes electronic ignition and Ride by Wire technology for acceleration control. This is some dedicated attention from Piaggio for a vehicle of its kind. After the jump are technical details from the press release and plenty of photos of the Piaggio MP3 2009.

Yamaha FX Nytro XTX Snowmobile 2009

2009 comes early, thanks to Yamaha’s FX Nytro XTX Snowmobile. Powered by the fast-revving, high-torque 130hp-class Genesis 130FI engine, the FX Nytro XTX uses lightweight crank technology and the fuel injection system to deliver razor-sharp throttle response. One new performance-enhancing feature that comes with this Yamaha snowmobile is its patented rear exit design that reduces the amount of under-hood heat produced and distributes weight for a finely balanced sled. Also new are the GYTR dual-clicker front shocks that offer riders a high level of tunability with 12 clicks of compression and 20 clicks of rebound damping. Yamaha.

VIA powers MTube handheld prototype

Reportedly scheduled for production in 2009, Taiwan's Science and Technology Advisory Group's recently unveiled MTube prototype is shaping up to be an interesting cross between a fully connected PMP and a "handheld notebook" running Linux on a 1.0GHz VIA C7-M processor. If released in its current state, the 3.35" x 3.35" x 0.79" device will tip the scales at 5.3 ounces and feature a 2.8" VGA touchscreen, 8GB of internal flash memory, 4-hour battery life, and both wi-fi and WiMAX connectivity.

This year’s technology survey found that more than a third of real estate practitioners—34 percent—now rely on GPS navigation for help getting around. The technology is evolving in two directions: hardware and service.

On the one hand, you have hardware systems like Sony’s Nav-U line, TomTom’s car navigation systems or the Gamin nuvi 880. But you'll likely see more GPS capabilities becoming a function built into other hardware, or provided as a service, rather than requiring a dedicated device. For example, services like Verizon’s VZNavigator, AT&T Navigator, Sprint Navigation, and Telenav offer point to point directions on your cell phone.

X30 Next Generation WheelChair

The X30 wheelchair has been designed keeping in mind the strain that the physically challenged have to undergo in situation where there is no help in hand. Designed by Danish designer Ulrik Svenningsen, the design helps in reducing the strain in hands, and shoulder which some times leads to injuries to them and also puts the device for long term use and improves comfort and mobility. Also these wheelchairs are strong, long lasting and easier to maneuver while going up the inclined surfaces and ramps etc. and also address the issue of transferring the user to and from the wheelchair. Definitely a touching thought for a practical thought.
